Envelope from Pencaithland to Chatteris in Cambridge with die 2 1d rose-red on white paper (SG40), badly trimmed and cancelled fair strike 'PENCAITHLAND' Scots local cancellation type VIII in green and indistinct Scottish numeral in black, presumably that of Tranent. On reverse 'TRANENT' date stamp JN 1 1859 and other date stamps. A poor strike but a very rare cancellation with Alcock rairity guide 'G'. (Ref 136625).
