15. KENT/CROSS POST. 1780 letter from Calais to Margate dated 16th June with manuscript 'Foreign 7 ... in all 10d' and at lower left manuscript 'Cross Post' indicating not via London. On reverse poor strike of straight line 'Dover' handstamp (KT 349). (*) (Ref 61764) £110.00

16. KENT/FIRST TYPE MILEAGE MARK. 1785 entire Canterbury to London dated March 14th 1785 with good strike of the '17 Canter/bury' handstamp in purple (KT 169) - only known cover of usage. Contents refer to ordering of various religious publications. (*) (Ref 61721) £85.00

       

17. KENT - PRIVATELY CARRIED LETTER. 1786 entire, with items recovered from the wreck of 'Henrick & Jacob' (wrecked Goodwin Sands 28/10/1786) to Ramsgate carried privately without postal markings. (*) (Ref 61775) £30.00

KENT/FIRST TYPE MILEAGE MARK. 1787 FREE FRANK Maidstone to Edinburgh dated August 8th 1787 with London 'FREE' frank handstamp with 'C' within - handstamp of Charles Coltson (Inspector of franks 1777-1797) and on front good strike of the '36 Maid/stone' first-type mileage handstamp (KT 702). 19. WALES/CARMARTHENSHIRE. 1784 entire Llandillo to Llandovery dated 7th March 1784 with very fine 'Llandillo' straight line handstamp (W 1287), manuscript '1' local charge using local CROSS POST. Envelope slight imperfections otherwise very fine. (*) (Ref 57879) £75.00

20. KENT/FIRST TYPE MILEAGE MARK. 1785 letter Folkestone to Margate 'Isle of Thanett' dated 9th March 1785 with very fine strike of the '74 Folk/stone' first type mileage mark (KT 434). (*) (Ref 61732) £140.00

       

21. 1787 entire St. Donats Castle (Glamorganshire) to London dated 3rd August contents referring to a Clergyman in dire straits and requesting urgent action re sale of his estate. (*) (Ref 61742) £15.00

22. WALES. 1789 entire Newport, Mon. to London with fine strike of the 'Newpo/M' handstamp (W 1774) showing 'RT' of Newport missing. Letter dated June 23rd 1789. (*) (Ref 61849) £60.00

       

23. LEICESTERSHIRE/CROSS POST/FREE FRANK. 1789 wrapper from Market Harborough to Northampton dated September 17th 1789. On front fair strike of the two-line 'Market/Harborough' handstamp (LC 136) with manuscript 'X' for Cross Post. Unusual Cross Post cover denoting not sent via London. (*) (Ref 61853) £90.00

24. KENT - THE 'DOVKR' HANDSTAMP. 1793 entire Dover to Margate dated 30th March with good strike of this distinctive handstamp with apparent mis-spelling. Apparently it is 1789 handstamp showing wear and the 'e' appears as a 'k'. At lower left manuscript 'Bye Bag Post Paid'. (*) (Ref 61762) £140.00

       

25. KENT/FIRST TYPE MILEAGE MARK. 1796 letter Tenterden to Brighton dated 29th September with London backstamp OC/1/96 and on front good to fine strike of the 'Tenter/den 57' first type mileage mark (KT 1167). Good usage. (*) (Ref 61757) £125.00

26. KENT. 1798 wrapper from Margate addressed to Lt. Lee 16th Light Dragoons Windsor with fine circular 'Margate' undated horseshoe-type handstamp (KT 752). Backstamped OC/10/98. (*) (Ref 61759) £40.00
